NFPA and Havard School of Public Health

2009 Fire-Safe Cigarettes conference

NFPA's fourth International Conference on Fire-Safe Cigarettes, cosponsored by the Harvard School of Public Health, was held October 28-29, 2009, in Norwood, MA. The event brought together more than 50 individuals to talk about ideas on implementation, cigarette fire investigations and new research on Fire-Safe Cigarettes.

Paul Martin of the New York Office of Fire Prevention & Control, spoke about the challenges of collecting data on home fires caused by cigarettes.

Mark Redlitz, Assistant State Fire Marshal in Texas, offers tips to states on enforcing fire-safe cigarette legislation.

Andrew Seidenberg of the Harvard School of Public Health presents preliminary findings of a study on public impressions of fire-safe cigarettes.
